Reading Time: 4 minutes

| These are my personal and honest opinions as a twin mom and mother of 4. I am not being incentivized or compensated in any way. I’m just a mom offering you some big sister advice. xoxo Carmen

**EDIT: apparently, Millie Moon is where it’s at, but I have NOT tried this brand yet! I will be trying Millie Moon on my next diaper haul and I’ll let you know if I like it better than Pampers!

As a mother of four, with 10-month-old twins still in diapers and the two older kids keeping very busy sports schedules, I GET IT. The economy is rough, and you want the most bang for your buck. Your schedule is already wild, and you don’t want to spend any extra time on unnecessary laundry or be stuck in a public bathroom hand washing the inserts to your car seat because of a blowout.

Currently, with our twins we use both cloth diapers and disposable diapers, just like I did with my older two kids. We cloth diaper most of the time, except on the weekends when we are traveling for my sons baseball tournaments! It is so much easier for us when traveling and at the ball park for hours on end to have the convivence of disposable diapers.

I like to save money anywhere I can! Cheaper is not always better though, especially when it comes to diapering, because poor diapers just mean more laundry and cleaning. Who wants that?!

When the twins were born, it had been 8 years since I was in the diapering game, so I have been trying all the different brands again to get a fresh perspective. 13 years ago, I preferred Huggies; 9 years ago I preferred Target’s Up&Up brand; now I am a twin mom changing more diapers than ever before! So, lets break it down:

When choosing the best disposable diaper, these are the things I consider:

  1. Price. Calculate it per diaper – not per box.
  2. Coupons and Deals. Are there often coupons available for drug stores like Walgreens and CVS? Does Target Circle regularly offer cash back or % off with these brands? Can I find rebates in Ibotta for them?
  3. Stool Blowouts. Can it handle a big poopy diaper? How often does a blowout happen while in the car seat? If there is a blowout, does it come up the back or out of the leg? Is it a little or a lot?
  4. Urine Leaking. Does it leak through to their clothes? Does the diaper pull the moisture away from the skin, or does it sit on top of the diaper? Does it leak moisture out of the sides or top before it is “full” and ready to be changed? Does it seep straight thru the diaper so that the outside of the diaper is wet against the clothes?
  5. Dry Overnight? Can it be worn overnight for 7-10 hours with no issues? Does it leak through to their clothes? Does it wake them up because it is so wet?
  6. Chemical Smell. Does it smell like chemicals? What about once it is soiled?
  7. Soft Comfort. Is it cushioned or stiff? Does it feel like a plastic bag or soft like cotton? Is anywhere on it “pokey” or “sharp” and might irritate babies’ sensitive skin?

COMPARISON DATA

PAMPERS: Our current family favorite!

  • The best preemie option!
  • Pampers app. You earn rewards every time you scan, and then you “buy” coupons with those rewards that you can use in store on line to get $ off your diaper purchases. Use CODE 36781DB on the Pampers rewards club app to get started with a $2 bonus after your first scan!
  • ZERO blowouts in these diapers, seriously! (Swaddlers are our favorite).
  • No chemical smell and they are super soft.
  • Have gone 10 hours overnight without leaking and it still wicks the moisture away from the skin.

Pampers are pricey, but when you combine coupons and rebates and buy in bulk, it makes it more affordable. I like to wait until Target Circle offers gift cards with diaper purchases, paired with a % off diapers PLUS Ibotta cash back PLUS pampers $rewards.

Last week I bought two boxes of Pampers Swaddlers (273 diapers), that purchase regularly would have normally been $90+tax, but I only paid $50.23 after taxes. So, 18 cents per diaper. Yes, the off-brand diapers would still have been cheaper by a couple cents per diaper, but because they don’t work as well they will not last as long, and I would potentially be wasting more time, money and energy in laundry from the extra soiled clothing.

Use the Flipp app to find all the stores with Pampers coupons. (Target is usually my best option to stack coupons, but I always check everywhere just in case).

Don’t forget to check Ibotta for a rebate! Ibotta: Earn Cash Back on Groceries & More use CODE dbsupbg for $5 when you submit your first receipt!
